Marina Orsag (Zagreb, 1979) is one of the pioneers and most influential figures of the Croatian and regional stand-up scene. She first stepped on stage in 2005 and has since played countless shows, becoming one of the most experienced comedians in the region. In 2011, with her partner Andrej Težak, she opened Studio Smijeha — Croatia's first comedy club — which she still runs today and which has become a central hub of the local scene. The open-mic nights she has hosted since 2006 brought up a whole generation of today's comedians. Alongside her specials and one-woman shows, she is known for projects that use humor to confront prejudice. Through her work and energy, she did much to put Croatian stand-up comedy on a firm footing.
